New Social media rules could be a barrier to online free speech

The modern era is no doubt full of digital innovations but is continuously challenged by cybercriminals and fake news. For them, social media is the biggest weapon to widely spread misinformation everywhere. The story of India is no different. However, to overcome this issue, the Indian government has proposed new rules for social media platforms, which is further sparking free speech concerns across India, and especially among local advocacy groups.

The government has recently proposed to amend Section 79 of the country’s IT Act. This move will censor social media content, which is deemed inappropriate by the government. Now social media companies and PR agencies have to think twice before posting content on these platforms. It’s become a great concern for these companies as it may lead to massive losses and client rejections.

The law once amended, would mandate social media networks to provide users’ private messages to the government, if requested. Social media platforms will also need to send a monthly copy of privacy policies to users. It is envisioned that these new rules will become a barrier to online free speech. Many popular OTT platforms have already banned content that could be considered unauthorized in order to government censorship.

Unfortunately, there are no guidelines provided by the government on what content would be considered unlawful. Companies are, thus, experiencing tough times in releasing new video content, and many new releases are put on hold. Illegal content is likely to include content on child abuse, defamation, hate speech, rape imagery, etc.

This move has not been appreciated so far as many big players think that this could undermine end-to-end encryption and shake the balance that has been maintained for years. Many social media companies and PR agencies would be at unease, as the long submission procedures of the required documents as asked by the government would take a lot of time to get things done.

Undoubtedly, the government tried to stop the spread of misinformation across social media platforms, but the result could further lead to chaos and losses. Social media companies, PR agencies and businesses may face troubles once the new social media rules come into effect. Hope the government would relook into this move and accordingly make modifications to stop social media mishap in the future. India is a democratic country, and nobody should be prevented to conduct free online speech.

Follow these four rules to drive in the best of social media benefits in business

Since its inception to the present day, Social media has always been a great tool for professionals working in PR firms in Delhi and around the world but are the PR campaigns they make good enough to tap the best of social media potential for your business popularity? Being a part of PR or SEO firms in Delhi, employees need to adequately create content suiting the behavioral patterns of the target audience.   On social media, the core idea of creating content is to make it consumer cohesive because if they can’t relate to the brand they won’t be interested in the products and services it will be offering.

3.      Thinking like a customer before working
Digital landscape is already cluttered with the mess created by crazy marketers and it’s advised to create an impact make sure that your PR and social media team is not into these practices, too. Instead the team should be spreading the idea of your brand and its products or services through content that has some value to be shared and looked at by the targeted audience.  Remember, the idea is not just about crowding up the digital space with irrelevant content but about creating relevance for the consumers and making them stop, act, watch, like, share, click, remember and share good words about your brand.

This demands a proactive content strategy close to the audience’s mind, and this is where influencers become an indispensable channel to activate. With the help of influencers, PR firms in Delhi can engage a brand’s customers across channels, locations, and time zones with adequate content that is both informative and useful for all.

3.    The chance to Get Creative
Let’s be honest millennials today don’t read brochures, reports, or press releases much but are spending around a total of nine hours browsing the internet, surfing social networking sites, using emails and texts, and on online forums. When it comes to the content consumption on online channels, close consideration is given to visuals, videos along with the text. It has become such a useful and popular translation resource that many predictions are being made about the future of language translation agencies. If a machine learning tool can deliver a quick and apt translation of an article or content piece at absolutely free of cost, why would anyone pay even a single penny to the best translator in Delhi?

Every other person holds a similar point of view about the latest technologies and language translation services in Delhi and all across the globe, except the language translation agencies in Delhi. Well, only the professional translators and industry experts can tell what future have for them.

Contrary to what most people believe, the process of language translation involves much more than a simple substitution of words and verbiage. The other essential things such as idioms, syntax, and cultural considerations cannot be taken care of by machine like a human translator can do. The sentences or the paragraphs which are translated from the source to target language may not sound relevant and logical unless and until the overall meaning of the concept is translated.

The multinational firms, who are the largest consumers of the language translation services in Delhi, also admit the fact that word to word translation done by Google Translate and other machine learning tools are mostly incorrect. The reason is its incapability to learn the emotions, sentiments, purpose, and more suitable word choice that a human translator is best at. Though quality language translation services are required in almost every sphere, it is the world of businesses that need it most because of the benefits that localization and translation of a business offered.

As a matter of fact, English is a universal language of communication, but the local language communication is equally important from the marketers’ perspective. The target audience may comprehend and might be fluent in the English language; they consume content in their native languages more efficiently. There must be some of your target customers, who are not familiar with the English language, and for this, you must personalize and localize your content and marketing efforts to tap on them. So now, we know why language translation services in Delhi and around the globe are being hired by businesses worldwide for being relevant and focused on their business goals and attract the customers.
